2016 Summer Reading Program

On Your Mark, Get Set...READ!

Children 0-11 years: Read and Complete Activities for Prizes 


Pick up an “On Your Mark , Get Set, READ!” Game Board at the Christian County Library or the Clever Public Library, or click on the Game Board links in the left sidebar to print yours out. (Note: If you are viewing this post on a mobile device and don't see the printable game board links, scroll to the bottom of the page and click View Web Version to see sidebar content.) 


Complete five hours of reading and five activities for each level, then bring your Game Board to the library to claim your prize! (There’s a special Game Board for children under three years old.) Complete Level One to win a Reading Rewards Coupon Book with free food, admission to attractions, and more from local businesses. Complete Level Two, and choose a free book and a book bag.

Paws for Reading

Bring young or reluctant readers to read to dogs, specially trained by The Alliance of Therapy Pets. Children are more comfortable reading to a pet who never makes fun of them, never corrects them, and always enjoys their time together.



Nixa Racing to Early Literacy Fair

Get a FREE BOOK for your family and learn about all the fun ways you can encourage early literacy in your 0-5 year old during this interactive, come-and-go event with the Christian County Library. You and your child will participate in activities to help you learn about each of the five "Roads to Reading" and establish some easy and fun ways to bring these into your day-to-day interactions. This event is funded by a grant from the Library Services and Technology Act, appropriated by Congress and adminstered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Missouri Secretary of State.
